The yard feels like how I imagine the tundra must feel. No more mowing for awhile anyway.
It's a very chilly 23 degrees this morning, and not expected to warm up much.
Last Winter we had 1 Hummingbird that didn't leave. We had to bring her feeder in on some of the coldest nights & put it out again at first light, then have a rotation with one inside on the coldest days so she'd always have one to drink from that wasn't frozen.
Well, this year we have 3 feeders and at least 4 Hummingbirds. I refilled the feeders last night & kept them in the kitchen. Shortly after Britt put them out at first light, the birds were right there for a drink. They're not venturing far from the feeders either. Poor little cold birds. Now we have these 4 little dependents. Good thing we're not going anywhere this Winter.
Meggie is fascinated by the Hummingbirds, and they like to swoop around and buzz us when we're out in the yard.
Holiday preparations are fully under way. We're very excited about the upcoming visit of Britt's parents, all the way from Jacksonville, on the 22nd.
Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah!
